It’s funny how preparation for a long trip slips one into an altered state of time. I look around my house and think in terms of my absence. The plant in the corner that I usually water will become someone else’s to keep alive. What will it look like when I return? I make a mental note to include “plant watering” on my list of thingsĀ my family should pay attention to while I am in Fiji. On my last trip, my son decided our indoor cats deserved to experience the call of the wild. By the time I landed back in L.A. the outdoors was embedded into their feline brains. They were never content indoors afterward and I couldn’t reverse it. What must I relinquish this time? Then my wisdom reminds me that life is all about relinquishing. How I love preparing for trips!
